"I wanted my dresses to be constructed, molded upon the curves of the feminine body, whose sweep they would stylize," explained the immortal French Couture designer Christian Dior, whose "New Look" swept the fashion world as soon as his spring 1947 collection hit the runway. Designed with shape and style, sloping shoulders, feminine curves, tucks, pleats and delicate details, these dresses changed the way women dressed for years to come. The Nouvelle Mode #15 takes the shape of a New Look dress—a tucked wasp-waist, full skirt, princess seamed bodice and a sweetheart neckline, crafted from two-tone black and navy taffeta—and adds refined touches to create a dress worthy of its luxurious heritage. The neckline, cap sleeves and hem are all finished with reinforced pinked bias binding for a hint of flare, and a large pinked taffeta blossom blooms at the waist, tied up with grosgrain ribbon. Nouvelle Mode #15 is the little navy dress of the century.
